Client – Lines & James / Horsham, West Sussex.

Ask anyone who’s lived in Horsham for a few years to name a good Lettings Agency and chances are the first one out of their mouths will be Lines & James. Why…? Well let’s see.

On first impressions Pat James comes across as full of energy, truly vivacious, someone passionately animated about her work and when you (finally) pin her down you’ll find a woman who’s not just running around to get jobs done quickly so as to get them off her desk, but one who genuinely cares that landlord’s and tenants are relying on her and her staff.

And this isn’t just her either! Spend any amount of time in the Lines & James offices and you’ll quickly see that all her staff – including her son and daughter who work with her, are just the same – amazing!

Try and pin one of the staff down from their daily duties and they’ll all tell you that Pat’s gone through more hoops in her life that most of us would care to mention, and even scratching the surface lightly you can easily see from the scars she bears that life hasn’t always been kind … but wow has she! This amazing lady supports more charities than some big FTSE Corporates, and not just with money either – for example most of her staff (including Pat) make an effort every year to actually run a marathon for Cancer each year, and over the years they’ve collected thousands for that Charity!

Today’s software is both complex and expensive, which has motivated many companies to invest in enterprise portals as a mechanism by which they can manage information in a cohesive and structured fashion.

Portals offer many advantages over other software applications:

They provide a secure and single point of entry for employees, partners, and clients.

They can access Web services transparently from any device in virtually any location.

They’re highly flexible; they can exist in the form of B2E intra-nets, B2B extra-nets, or B2C inter-nets.

They can be combined to form a portal network that can span a company’s entire enterprise system, allowing for access both inside and outside the firewall.

They offer a secure environment for people groups to share stories, documents, diaries, invites to meetings, blogs, etc. This can further be segmented so that only certain staff or members have access to all or particular areas, as in the case of Learning & Development, Mentoring or Procurement.

A simple Portal can take as little as 2 weeks to construct and can be easily developed in situ once it’s up and running.

Portals distinguish themselves from other software systems because they provide the ability to integrate contrasting systems and control the functionality provided by those systems. Since portals can access any Web services, the conclusion is obvious: portals provide a unique opportunity to leverage the functionality of emerging technologies as well as mature, well-established software systems.

From simple Logo's to full sets

Creating and positioning a good brand can be a lot easier than you think as the steps needed to build and manage any brand are identical.

Basically, great brands are built on a platform that works to positively and constantly promote your products and services. This platform always begins with two basic steps – RESEARCH & PLAN.

RESEARCH

We’ll help you by working out your strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats. We’ll work with you to overcome your weaknesses and help you overcome and avoid threats from the competition and at the same time we’ll help you capitalise on your strengths and make the most of your opportunities.

We’ll research your competition and in understanding who they and how they position themselves, we’ll help you understand their strengths and weaknesses compared to yours.

When it comes to marketing communications, we’ll analyse what strategies and tactics that you’ve tried, we’ll see what’s worked and what hasn’t – and why? We’ll help you understand what your competitors are doing that you’re not, and does it seem to make sense to do the same?

What perception do your customers, employees and potential investors think of your products and/or services? Are the negative ones true? If so we’ll work with you on what must be done to fix them. If they’re not, then what must be done to change perceptions.

PLAN

Planning takes 2 forms. First we work out the “rational” side of your brand personality and we do this by applying all that we’ve learned from you and then connecting this to ho you’re specifically trying to target – i.e. are you a general handyman or a plumber, a landscape gardener or a builder, a fish shop or a sea food restaurant?

Then we work on the “emotional” side of your brand identity, i.e. what type of personality traits would your target audience want you to have? Should you be light-hearted or serious? Down to earth or academic? Flexible or rigid? Then we’ll work with you to become them.

We’ve worked through these fundamental steps with many companies large and small, usually as a starting point for developing a better system for managing their brand either internally or externally. We work to a recognised system that replaces personal opinions with recognised brand practices as the basis for making communications, marketing and even operational decisions excellent. Whether we help to guide you through the process, or help you do it yourself, you can be sure that we’ll do it at a fraction of the cost that you might expect.

Managed Surveys

Simply put, organisations conduct surveys to discover answers to particular questions that they need answering to help them proceed with their on-going internal or external strategies.

The reasons for conducting surveys are many and varied and here are just a few:

By offering completely ‘anonymous’ surveys in a non-threatening survey environment, your organisation will learn far more about what motivates survey respondents and what’s currently important to them.

Surveys provide great opportunities to discuss important feedback with your target population – “did we serve you well?” “how are you managing with the laptop we fixed for you last week?” etc.

In an age of low budget/ low resources, Surveys allow you to prioritise your actions based upon objective data rather than relying on subjective “gut” feelings. Therefore, you can immediately address issues that are important, rather than wasting resources on things that no one cares about.

Surveys can also provide an excellent benchmarking facility when used as a “snapshot” of your target population and their attitudes about your particular survey problem. This helps you to establish a baseline from which you can compare whether target population attitudes and perceptions relative to the survey problem are getting better or worse over time.

Search Engine Optimisation

If you’re thinking about hiring an SEO, the earlier the better. A great time to hire is when you’re considering a site redesign, or planning to launch a new site. That way, you and your SEO can ensure that your site is designed to be search engine-friendly from the bottom up. However, a good SEO can also help improve an existing site. – Google

Why is SEO important? Well just imagine if no one could easily find your place of business, or even your telephone number. Most businesses wouldn’t survive for long like that and the same thing can happen with your web site if people can’t easily find you. Potentially valuable customers never even know you are there and so go elsewhere!

BUT WE ALREADY HAVE A WEBSITE!!!

OK, existing customers or those already familiar with your company should be able to find your site without any great difficulty, but this may not be the case with new ones. How can you be sure that potential customers have been reached by your current advertising? What about the people who need your services or products but don’t read the magazines or newspapers where you chose to place advertisements?

Google is amazing BUT unless your website has had SEO applied then it’s just “rubbish in – rubbish out” …
