Creating and positioning a good brand can be a lot easier than you think as the steps needed to build and manage any brand are identical.

Basically, great brands are built on a platform that works to positively and constantly promote your products and services.  This platform always begins with two basic steps – RESEARCH & PLAN.

 

RESEARCH

  • We’ll help you by working out your strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats.  We’ll work with you to overcome your weaknesses and help you overcome and avoid threats from the competition and at the same time we’ll help you capitalise on your strengths and make the most of your opportunities.
  • We’ll research your competition and in understanding who they and how they position themselves, we’ll help you understand their strengths and weaknesses compared to yours.
  • When it comes to marketing communications, we’ll analyse what strategies and tactics that you’ve tried, we’ll see what’s worked and what hasn’t – and why? We’ll help you understand what your competitors are doing that you’re not, and does it seem to make sense to do the same?
  • What perception do your customers, employees and potential investors think of your products and/or services?  Are the negative ones true? If so we’ll work with you on what must be done to fix them.  If they’re not, then what must be done to change perceptions.

PLAN

Planning takes 2 forms.  First we work out the “rational” side of your brand personality and we do this by applying all that we’ve learned from you and then connecting this to ho you’re specifically trying to target – i.e. are you a general handyman or a plumber, a landscape gardener or a builder, a fish shop or a sea food restaurant?

Then we work on the “emotional” side of your brand identity, i.e. what type of personality traits would your target audience want you to have? Should you be light-hearted or serious? Down to earth or academic? Flexible or rigid?  Then we’ll work with you to become them.

We’ve worked through these fundamental steps with many companies large and small, usually as a starting point for developing a better system for managing their brand either internally or externally. We work to a recognised system that replaces personal opinions with recognised brand practices as the basis for making communications, marketing and even operational decisions excellent.
